SNWA Pipeline and Water Grab Join our email newsletter (signup form to the right) for news about this project and to learn about and participate in our work in the region. The Southern Nevada Water Authority, Las Vegas’s water agency, has received permission from the Bureau of Land Management and other agencies to build a massive groundwater pumping and pipeline project from the arid basin and range country in eastern Nevada and western Utah. This project will profoundly alter the ecology of a whole region and steal water from the Goshute Indian Reservation and other rural communities. Campaign Background Across the inter-mountain West, the Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, and other land managers are destroying vast swathes of Pinyon-Juniper forest, including many ancient forests, in the name of restoration. This is blatant greenwashing; these projects are not supported by sound ecological science. No one who truly wants the best for the natural ecology and non-human communities of this region should support this practice. Our group represents a coalition of organizations and concerned people who wish to protect these beautiful and important forests.
