Support Deep Green Resistance

YOUR CHANCE TO SUPPORT DGR: Every resistance movement needs two things to be successful: loyalty and material support. You can provide that material support - food, shelter, transportation. Every donation goes directly to funding the resistance. DGR’s work is 100% volunteer (and you can join us). We are at 20% of our funding goal - can you help us push that number higher? https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/funding-resistance-2014-dgr-fund-drive/x/3102583

Blow All the Dams

“Hatcheries not only failed to boost the number of fish but also actually harmed the salmon by mining billions of eggs from wild populations. The fish hatcheries were designed to collect and incubate the maximum number of eggs with the greatest efficiency. In many cases, that meant all the eggs in the entire salmon run into a tributary were collected and brought into the hatchery. A rack or weir placed across a river blocked the migration and concentrated all the salmon trying to reach their spawning grounds. Adult fish held below a rack were easily captured and artificially spawned

Report-back: DGR Tour of the Philippines

Earlier this year, DGR member Kim Hill of Australia traveled to the Philippines. DGR’s presence was requested by community organizers from an anarchist collective called the Mobile Anarchist School. Here is her report back: ‘NO TO MINING.’ Signs bearing these words are common on Marinduque. The signs are nailed to trees, on fences and shelters, and the slogan is painted in large letters on the front wall of a school. ...

Rachel: Against an Uncritical Embrace of Gender

The following is a response to an open letter written by Bonnie Mann to Lierre Keith. Hello Professor Mann, You wrote an open letter recently to my friend and fellow activist Lierre Keith. You don’t know me, and I don’t know you, but as your letter discusses issues which are very important to me, and as I feel that you’ve gravely misconstrued those issues, it feels incumbent upon me to respond. You may choose to write me off as “uncritical,” since I share the views that you have dismissed as such in your letter, but I hope that you will instead choose to listen and reflect on my reasons for finding your letter uncritical at best, and in all truth, irresponsibly misleading at worst. At the risk of casting too wide a net, there are two things I’d like to address: the things you say in your letter, and the things you don’t say in your letter. ...

DGR Chicago - Political Hypnosis in the State of the State Address

DGR Chicago responds to Governor Quinn’s January 29, 2014 State of the State Address: Contrary to the words of Governor Quinn during his recent address, Illinois is in a state of disaster. Quinn mentions extreme weather – but not climate change. Illinois residents have experienced the coldest winter in more than 30 years. This is the result of unusually high Pacific Ocean temperatures caused by global climate change. It was this shift in ocean temperatures that disrupted the “polar vortex” and plunged the country into an arctic winter. ...
