Protest of oil and gas exploration permits in NevadaFrom C. Gerlach and the Center for Biological Diversity:

On Tuesday, March 8, over 50,000 acres of Nevada’s precious public lands will be auctioned off to oil and gas companies for dirty fossil fuel extraction.

Each time the Obama administration leases more federal lands for fossil fuel extraction, it puts our land, water, wildlife and climate future at greater risk. Scientists have said repeatedly: To avoid worst-case climate scenarios, we must leave most of these fossil fuels safely in the ground.

Since last November the threat of protests has caused the Bureau of Land Management to postpone several fossil fuel auctions across the country. Now let’s show up even bigger — to let them know we won’t stop until they halt all new fossil fuel leases on our public lands and waters.

Join us on Tuesday, March 8 at the BLM’s next oil and gas lease sale to deliver this crucial message: Our lands and our future are not for sale.
